2002 Chevrolet Camaro With 500 HP, 305 Squared Tires Goes Mountain Carving: Video

Matt Farah, host of TheSmokingTire, isn’t exactly the biggest fan of the F-body Chevrolet Camaro. In fact, the YouTube channel previously ran a month-long segment on the horrors of such cars. This particular 2002 Camaro SS, though, is just ballsy enough to be an outlier, so Matt decided to give it a second look.

With nearly 500 horsepower at the flywheel, this LS1 that has been reworked to an LS6 packs plenty of punch, and the exhaust note is truly impeccable – what more could you ask for? Ah, right, a beefy suspension to put all of that power down. Well, this Camaro features a “square stance,” meaning all four tires are the same width – 305 mm wide. This Z/28-esque setup gives the car a lot more grip through the corners.

Something to consider while watching the video is that these F-body Camaros can be found for under $5,000 all day long on Craigslist. Modifying cars is never exactly “cheap,” but money-conscious enthusiasts should consider an F-body as a potential project. Let that float around in the back of your mind as you watch the video.

  1. Better with an LS3 in it, which is what I added when my LS1 blew up at Road America… 😉
