It was only Wednesday when General Motors had nothing to say about its bluntly obvious autonomous Chevrolet Bolt EV prototype being spotted around the city of San Francisco. Today, that has changed.
GM has spilled the beans regarding its autonomous vehicle program. Forbes reports, after contacting GM directly, it offered no information. But, over the past few days, Cruise Automation, now wholly owned by GM, has revamped its website, offering a photo of the autonomous Bolt EV and providing a call to action for future employment.
This past January, GM dedicated an entire development team to autonomous vehicle technology, and its acquisition of Cruise Automation has only bolstered itself regarding the technology. At start, Cruise Automation retained 40 employees for the project. Now, almost two dozen employment listings are available.
GM also invested heavily into Lyft for a fleet of autonomous Chevrolet Volts, but the ride-sharing service and Cruise Automation won’t be working together, for now.
