Cadillac says that the “initial low-volume shipments of the all-new CT6” were “eagerly snapped up by customers”, and that “dealer deliveries will accelerate during May.”
The CT6 is the first Cadillac to compete in the full-size luxury flagship sedan space against segment stalwarts such as the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8/S8, and Lexus LS.

I expect volume to be somewhere between 1250-1500 units per month in the US market for the first month.
The Chinese market will account for a slightly higher volume say in the 1500-1750 per month range.
Also expect the XTS to caniblise a few sales from the CT6 while its still at the dealer lots. While the CT6 is leagues better in almost every aspect then the XTS, I don’t expect the average buyer to know much the difference other then the huge price difference. I hope I am wrong but I personally think that the CT6 sales will be medocre and below GM expectations for the first several months. Then I could see them pick up after the XTS is put to rest and when Cadillac decides to do some actual decent marketing.
I suspect that the earlier deliveries of the CT6 will be used as dealer demos and test drives so customers can order their cars anyway they want. Sales will eventually will increase from there where it needs to be.
Scott3, if you are reading this, do you know the reason why the CT6 Platinum is having that ugly-ass plastic airbag covering on the steering wheel where it should be leather-padded instead? You can get the leather padded cover on the CTS Premium and Escalade Platinum but some earlier CT6 Platinum models have that ugly black platic airbag cover on the steering wheel. You have any idea what is going on, maybe a supply issue?
I ended up getting a loaded CTS because the CT6 wasn’t available and it was time to turn in my lease car. (March) I’m sure I’m not alone in this.
I had a chance to test drive one last weekend . My dealership has only one and its not for sale its for test drives alone.
Its Black with what I think is the Caramel interior . Not my taste but its a nice ride . It had that new rear view mirror that shows more of what is behind you and it make things look closer than they really are . The 3.6 in it won’t win any races but seemed enough to merge onto the freeway with no worries . And it is a big car to drive with tons of rear legroom . It listed for 62 grand so was not fully loaded but was nice non the less .
It is going to take 2 weeks until they have some to sell to the public . Its going to take time for GM to fill the pipe line .
