Hennessey Teases New Venom GT Top Speed Record: Video

It’s one thing to be a well respected aftermarket and tuning division like Hennessey Performance Engineering, but taking to build your own high-performance, top speed vehicle is another. The Hennessey Venom GT has been known as a world-record setter for some time, smashing the production vehicle mark in 2014 at 270.49 mph.

Guess what? Hennessey says they’ve done it again, beating its current record.

HPE released this teaser video of the Venom GT over the weekend, showing the yellow Venom GT rocketing down the strip at undisclosed speeds. HPE powers the Venom GT with a twin-turbochaged 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine, which now produces 1,451 hp on cranked up boost and E85.

No, the Venom GT isn’t truly a production vehicle, and the world record isn’t recognized by any record governing body, but it’s nearly as bespoke and more powerful as the Bugatti Veyron. Check out the video up above.
