Chief Engineer Paul Spadafora Talks 2017 XT5: Video

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 was a talking point during a recent episode of Autoline After Hours. And who better to chat with the midsize luxury crossover than chief engineer of the vehicle, Paul Spadafora.

Spadafora discusses the main points engineers looked at when they were tasked with creating an all-new midsize crossover for the brand, replacing the hot-selling SRX. Foremost, keeping weight down and creating Cadillac’s signature design was key. Cadillac is also the first to utilize the C1XX platform for crossovers, meaning there was quite a bit of freewill.

Basically, every area was considered to create, what Spadafora says, is a “no excuses” vehicle. From fuel efficiency, to safety, to refinement, the XT5 improves upon what consumers loved with the SRX.

  1. What happened with 2017 XT5 delivery. It was set for production and then showed cars in transit for dealers about April 1st. Now dealers say May 1st.
Did Cadillac find a post production problem that needs to be fixed at GM and not the dealer?
Also was told that cars were shipped to Detroit?

    1. I have one dealer that already has two in stock, while the more higher sales volume dealer 12 miles within each other have yet received any but have 5 on transit. Your dealership should receive them any day now.

  2. Most dealers seem to be clueless about delivery. The vehicle order status reports seem to be missing in action. One dealer has hinted about possible production problems.
