Chevy Camaro Sales Grow 15.5 Percent To 6,879 In March 2016

The Chevrolet Camaro accounted for 6,879 U.S. deliveries in March 2016, an increase of 15.5 percent compared to 5,969 units delivered in March 2015.

By comparison, the Camaro’s direct rivals — the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger — recorded year-over-year sales decreases:

  • Ford Mustang sales dropped 0.79 percent to a still-significant 12,563 units, outselling the Camaro by 5,684 units
  • Dodge Challenger sales dropped 12.13 percent to 5,369 units, selling 1,510 units less than the Camaro

The results make the Camaro the only American car in its segment to record a year-over-year sales uptick in March.

  2. Would love to see Chevrolet do for the LTG 2.0L DOHC-4v 4-cyl turbo that Chevy does in INDY car racing with 10-15 seconds of overboost and push engine output to 300-330 horsepower or almost as much as the naturally aspirated 3.6L DOHC-4v V6 and give the Camaro more ammo to fight against the Mustang.

  3. Will this gen Camaro beat the Mustang in sales soon?

    1. Hard to say since GM is limiting sales to rental fleets, and Ford is selling the Mustang to fleets left and right.

      1. No doubt, but I can’t see 50% of fleet Mustangs.

  4. And if they were sold in RHD sales would be up 50%.

    1. These are US sales figure.

    2. Ok. Maybe I exaggerated a little with 50%. But they would sell 10,000 in Australia in the first year if they were available.

      1. Maybe the first year, they need to study how the Mustang does in these markets. Better car or not, the Mustang is one of the most iconic cars in the world, where I’m not sure the camaro shares that with Mustang outside of north America.

  5. Now if Ford adds magnetic suspension and dual mode exhaust? That should be very cool! Hard choice with these rivals today! The Camaro SS is surely currently the track star!…but for cruising…it’s hard to beat the Mustang GT
