Roadkill has a track record of taking piles of garbage, and turning it into something super cool. However, the latest episode strays from this formula.
Instead, a third-generation Chevrolet Camaro and SN95 Ford Mustang meet their matches when host David Freiburger’s lifted Jeep comes into the equation. The two former-glory pony cars stand no chance to the wrecking ball that is the Jeep.
After a demolition derby of sorts, the unloved era of American muscle meets its fate. It’s a departure from the show’s premise, that’s for sure. But, hey, there’s no denying it’s fun to watch things get smashed every now and then.

That Camaro is indestructible!
The third generation Chevrolet Camaro proves how far technology has come as the 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 with a 5.0L OHV-2v V8 was only capable of 145 horsepower while the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro base model with a 2.0L DOHC-4v 4-cyl turbo can pump out 275 hp or almost twice as much.
Sadly that’s not the case at all. Technology had nothing to do with it, rather government interference regarding pollution control and insurance premiums. That same 5.0 liter, or for those of us who grew up when displacement was listed as cubic inches, 300 to 307 cubic inch motor pushed way more actual horsepower. The 1st gen Camaro Z/28 sported a 5.0 liter, 302 cubic inch, small block V8 that was rated at a meager 290 HP for insurance reasons. Now this was just a push rod, normally aspirated point and condenser engine. When hooked to a dyno that same motor pushed 440 HP with a single 780 CFM Holley carb. The dual carb option, delivery in the trunk, that was used on SCCA road circuit produced somewhere around 550 HP.
Hurt my soul to watch.
