General Motors-SAIC and Buick have their next act ready to be revealed in less than two weeks. The Buick LaCrosse Hybrid has received its first official teaser, and will be shown on April 18 in Shanghai.
During the event, GM-SAIC will also outline its “Drive to Green” strategy, which will be headlined by the LaCrosse Hybrid Electric Vehicle, or HEV. The HEV system is made up of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric two-motor drive unit that provides additional power to assist the engine during acceleration.
From what we know, the Buick LaCrosse hybrid will follow suit in design, but we won’t see the entire vehicle until its reveal date.
During the event, Buick will also show the Avista coupe concept, making its Chinese debut. Hopefully, the Avista garners just as much buzz as it has in the United States and Canada. China will ultimately be the final say in if we ever see a production Avista in any form.

I guess, 1.8 gas engine hints that 3rd gen LaCrosse hybrid will get the same powertrain as new Malibu?
At least, this version for China?
Any news on getting Hybrid 3rd gen LaCrosse in North America?
Would be great for city driving in terms of city fuel consumption.
I expect the Buick LaCrosse Hybrid to be the same as the Chevy Malibu Hybrid. Both will use a version of the Volt’s 5ET50 electric drive unit and have the same 1.5 kWh battery pack. So both may become plug-in hybrids with a larger battery and an onboard charger (with a J1772 input port) in the near future.
Good work, Buick and GM!
