  1. I wish they’d offer different leather color options for the High Country. Such a beautiful truck but the leather color they have just doesn’t look good with most exterior colors IMO. I’d love a High Country with black leather!

    1. Your in luck, read above….. “New Inter trim (HQZ) Jet Black Medium Ash Gray available on 3LZ”
3LZ is the High Country,so you now have another color choice!

  2. They didn’t post the heavy dutys so I’m putting 2 and 2 together that for 2017 we’ll see a new HD. I really hope.

  3. I would like them to make the 8 speed available with the 5.3 V8

    1. LTZ has that configuration..?

      1. The 8-speed was available with the 5.3L for the first production run; after that is has been “on hold” until the last production run where it was no longer available at all.

For those who want the 8-speed so bad, we are seeing a few 6.2L with valve springs breaking, dropping into the cylinders and we are replacing engines. We just finished our 4th engine replacement and here in Canada, we only get a handful of 6.2L’s each year. GM really doesn’t know why but one of our techs who used to build $100K race engines has informed GM it is a transmission mapping issue. These trucks will hold gears until 5500 rpms on hard throttle and when it shifts, it only shifts down to 3500 rpms for the next gear engagement and when this happens, the valve springs aren’t “relaxing” or resetting and are being hammered instantly again at 3500 rpms. It seems to be cylinders 5 and 7 that we’ve seen these on. GM basically just replaces the engine, but the new engine will shift and perform exactly the same, so it will still be an issue on the new replacement engine. This same tech of ours has one of the early 5.3’s with the 8-speed and it shifts exactly the same way (very high rpms into the next gear). He is waiting for his to break a valve each day. Again it seems to be happening when you hammer it to pass vehicles, etc.

He advised GM that they should try dropping the shifts to 5000 rpms and the next gear down to around 2800 engagement rpms to set the valve springs and he things this issue will go away. We are waiting to hear back from GM.

    2. Or the 4.3 V6 for that matter, I think that would be a great combo. I have friends who have the Ram with the 3.6 V6 and 8 speed and they get some pretty amazing mileage.

  4. Another year without the half ton diesel…

  5. I too believe that GM ought to make this 8-speed standard across the across the damn board. Also, I agree with Ry. GM need to introduce a half ton diesel option to increase their competitiveness in this truck market. Cosmetics alone doesn’t cut it.

GM need to realize that the competition is upping the ante and they need to stay with, or get ahead of the competition. Lets see: A half ton diesel option.
A bump in bhp for all engine options.
The 8-speed across the board, and the 10-speed standard on the 6.2 and optional on the 5.3 at first.
A 5.3 twin turbo as an option for all rear-drive/4WD base Trucks and SUVs. lets see, 475 bhp and 550 lb-ft for this performance package available with the 10-speed.

    1. 8 speed across the board?
I sure hope not. I wish I had my 2008 Silverado back with just 4 gears. Crisp throttle response right away. Everytime. No bog out and lurching upshift twice to simply resume a 65kph speed in town. I can’t stand all the shifting on my 2014 Silverado.
Also would like GM to do away with AFM completely. I didn’t buy a pickup to save gas. At 30,000 km I now have the 5.3l oil consumption issue just as expected.

  6. Hey GM what have you got against adding any shades of green paint for those of us who still think it is a must have for any pickup offering. Good heavens Ram has no less than 3 or 4 different shades of green while us GM folks have none. The optional metallic green from 2014 and 2015 was a nice color but don’t make me pay 400+ dollars for it.

  7. Yeah, How about that GM? Last couple of years, you’ve deleted more colors than you’ve added. Pretty soon there will be no colors left? Open your eyes for a change and look at the other brands colors, even two tones! Wait, what? I.m trying not to change brands after 30+ years, but come on, ugly trucks with no decent color choices and stupid square wheel wells that rub tires one or two sizes up? Hello? tires are ROUND, not square. Never mind the ridiculous center console tray that you can’t use because whatever you put in it flies into the back seat when you need something IN the console. Also, you can’t write down a phone number because the console lid isn’t a flat surface! See? You got me started. I could go on but it won’t do any good. GM, give me a job and I’ll show you how to sell trucks! Yeah right.

  11. The 8 speed is junk in my 2015 6.2. Shudders and is constantly searching for the right gear. Clangs and flares on some shifts also.
Do a search on the 8 speeds in the GM forums
And you will see all the issues that GM does nothing to resolve.
Push the skinny pedal to the floor and the truck moves out and shifts fine. Drive like a sane person and it will drive you nuts.
As soon as the 10 speed comes out I am trading mine in.

  12. there is 1 item that gm needs to add that their competitors have that keep me from buying a new truck. Is they need rear seat air conditioning on crew and double cabs, they could add push start but my opinion not a selling point in a vehicle, then add usb ports in the backseat. I have 14 1500 double cab 2wd with the 5.3 and love it but living in the south with heat index of 120 the ac is weak especially if you have passengers. If a rear ac was in the back it help. So GM add those options you be able to compete better and I personally be willing to upgrade to a new model.

  14. I would love to see a more powerful gas engine, the little 5.3 is fine until you hook a trailer behind it, the 6.0 or 6.2 is a world of difference, but would like a little more HP and Torque.

  15. I want a Denali, but I’ll go with a Ram until rear HVAC vents are standard GM fare. The ONLY trucks on the market that forego the rear seat passengers comfort, and it’s pathetic.

    1. I agree with you, thats why i bought a ram ecodiesel laramie longhorn was wanting a denali myself, but with kids rear air goes a long way in selling a truck i hope they add it soon or they may start losing more customers

  16. When will the power ratings come out on the new Duramax engine ?? I was told by a friend that works for GM that the new engine doesn’t have the power and they are seeing some problems with the Allison transmission.. Is there any truth to that ?? I have driven GM’s diesel trucks for a lot of years, it seems everyone gets a little better, I sure hope they don’t all of a sudden start to go backwards ?

  17. I have been shopping for a Silverado half ton to replace the 2014 that I currently own. As I look at what is available in my area, I find nothing but the brown interior that I so despise in my current vehicle. I live in Oklahoma where temperatures commonly reach 110 degrees in the summer months which is not conducive to dark colors. I am quite sick of GM’s interior leather color selections, or should I say “lack of color selections”. While i’m on my soapbox, I’m tired of being harassed by the people who promote the dinosaur GM calls “ON STAR” and the Sirius radio clowns. GM needs to understand that I do not owe them the right to put up with their rude sales people just because I purchased one of their inflated price vehicles.

  18. After look at photos on Chevy’s site of the 2017 Silverado It appears there will be no HVAC vents on the rear seats yet again! How many people have raised this issue with GM? How many times has someone walked into a Chevy or GMC dealer and said “this truck has rear HVAC vents, sorry but im not buying” Im going to say NEVER! On the flip side, how many people have walked into the Chevy or GMC dealers and said “This truck has no HVAC vents, sorry I’m not buying” Bet that happens often. Chevy and GMC want $65,000+ for some models and they cant even give you rear vents. To me this is a huge let down, considering it’s been a known issue for years now. I would love to hear the logic from the people at GM as to why they think I dont need rear AC vents

  19. I’m with MikeH. All that money and still no rear vents. My kids hate my 2012 Dodge 2500 in the summer and it has 2 small tiny vents. Before I had kids, I could probably care less. But why have a Crew Cab if the people in the back can’t even be comfortable?

  20. I have wanted a Silverado for YEARS! They are just SO EXPENSIVE!! Today, I am reading the forum and guys are talking about no rear heat/ AC!! Are you kidding me???? Why would I shell out 40k + for a 4 door truck without any rear heat and A/C???? Seriously GM, you need to get it together.. It’s almost 2017 and no rear heat and AC….. Color me disappointed. I drove a new silverado recently and it drove like a dream, compared to me 05 Titan!! But no rear heat and A/C?? That is a deal breaker!

  22. I love trucks, but really long trucks and four doors on a truck looks stupid IMO… also I fail to see the point in having a tiny back seat area in a truck or surrendering box size for a mega cab.

The best looking regular cab has always been Chevy, but I drive Dodge because the regular cab size and room is just more comfortable and functional hands down. Also, my Ram regular cab has a rear window… duh!!!! Chevy and Ford must be losing sales over this.

My dream truck would be Chevy regular cab short box blacked out, but with a bigger single cab with more leg room and seats that can recline back. Ample storage behind the seat for tools like Ram. A rear window that completely rolls down like tundra

I wont buy a Japanese truck
