2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Gets New Colors, Capless Fuel Fill, Teen Driver Mode, Android Auto, Power Steps And More

The GMC Sierra 1500 is getting several changes and updates for the 2017 model year, which closely match those of the 2017 Chevy Silverado.

To start, GMC’s light duty pickup truck family will continue being available in the same nine models as the 2016 Sierra 1500:

On the outside, the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 does away with three colors and adds two new ones:

Deleted Colors

  • Light Steel Gray Metallic
  • Iridium Metallic
  • Mahagony Metallic

New Colors

  • Dark Slate Metallic
  • Pepperdust Metallic

Rounding out the changes to the exterior of the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 are:

  • The addition of a capless fuel fill system as a standard feature across every model and trim level, with the exception of trucks ordered as pickup box delete. Models ordered with pickup box delete will continue having the capped fuel fill
  • A new set of P265/65R18 all-season blackwall tires
  • A new set of tri-mode power steps that are rearward articulating for bed access and have a foot-activated running side board

The updates to the truck are rounded out with the following seven changes:

  • Low Speed Mitigation Braking is added to the Enhanced Driver Alert Package
  • All Terrain Package is no longer available on SLE Trim
  • Elevation Edition is now available on SLE Trim
  • 8-inch IntelliLink (IO5 and IO6) systems now include Android Auto
  • Heated and vented seats has new RPO code of KQV
  • High-performance LED headlamps with GMC signature LED lighting has new RPO code of T4L
  • SLT Crew Cab Premium Plus Package now includes trailer brake controller

  • (G1C) Light Steel Gray Metallic

  • (G1F) Mahagony Metallic
  • (QXN) P265/65R18 off-road blackwall tires

New Features

  • (GPA) Dark Slate Metallic
  • (GMU) Pepperdust Metallic
  • Capless fuel fill
  • (TDM) Teen Driver mode
  • (UHY) Low Speed Mitigation Braking is added to the (Y86) Enhanced Driver Alert Package
  • (BRS) Tri-Mode Power Steps
  • (RKX) P265/65R18 all-season blackwall tires

Changes

  • (GAT) All Terrain Package is no longer available on SLE Trim
  • (SXL) Elevation Edition is now available on SLE Trim
  • (IO5) and (IO6) IntelliLink 8″ Diagonal Color Touch Screen audio systems now includes Android Auto
  • (KB6) heated and vented seats has new RPO code of (KQV)
  • (PDP) High-performance LED headlamps with GMC signature LED lighting has new RPO code of (T4L)
  • (PDT) SLT Crew Cab Premium Plus Package now includes (JL1) trailer brake controller
  • Capped fuel fill is included with (ZW9) pickup
