2017 Chevy Camaro Gets New Arctic Blue Color, 50th Anniversary Edition, Teen Driver Mode And More

We already know that the 2017 Chevy Camaro will be the happy recipient of new 1LE track handling package, as well as the ever-so-beastly ZL1 in coupe and convertible forms. But that’s not all — as the 2017 Camaro is also the recipient of more changes and updates, including:

  • New 50th Anniversary Edition model
  • New FIFTY badge on the bottom of the steering wheel for all models
  • Blue Velvet Metallic color is replaced with Arctic Blue Metallic
  • Teen Driver mode feature is added to the MyLink infotainment system

We’re not quite certain if this list is complete or not, but following are GM’s official RPO-level changes to the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro:

Deletions

  • (G1M) Blue Velvet Metallic exterior color

New Features

  • (GGB) Arctic Blue Metallic exterior color
  • (H50) 50th Anniversary Edition
  • All steering wheels have a “FIFTY” badge on the bottom of the steering wheel
  • (TDM) Teen Driver mode

Changes

  • White Pearl Body-Side Spear Decals, LPO code changed from PCM to SNH
  • Red Hash Mark Decals, LPO code changed from PCL to SNG
  • Blue Center Stripe, LPO code changed from PCK to VUP
  • Blue Rally Stripes, LPO code changed from PCP to SHR

  1. I’m curious to see what this Arctic Blue looks like, as it will be available on the Sonic and Impala too. Sounds like a light possibly silvery blue, but I’m questioning how that fits with the personalty of the Camaro. What I’m envisioning would be more at home on the Lacrosse or CT6.

Also, have to chuckle at the teen driver feature. If I had a Camaro and teen driver, he/she would most assuredly not be behind the wheel.

    1. Why not? Camaro has a five star crash test rating. Would you rather they be in a Civic if they were involved in a crash?

  2. I wonder if they know that is the name of a Nissan color also?

  3. According to some other Camaro Forums, it’s the color that was shown on the 2017 ZL1 Convertible HD reveal photos. People originally thought it might have been a Silver Ice Metallic car (like the one they rolled out at the auto show) under a blue sky and with some photoshop magic. But people with insider info have confirmed it’s actually the new Arctic Blue color.

Based on the pics, it’s not my cup of tea. But who knows, I guess there’s always a chance I would like it if I got to see it in person.

  4. Was seriously afraid for a minute Arctic replaced Hyper/Kinetic Blue. Can breathe more easily as I make my mind up for ’17.

  5. Way to go GM yet another color in the silver family. Note to product planners customers who buy flashy cars like bright colors. We don’t need more 50 shades of gray….

  6. Please, not another shade of grey. I was hoping it might be a not-so-dark blue that isn’t as black as blue velvet. If GM only put me in charge of paint colors there’d only be one black and one white, not two of each as on so many of their vehicles, and one grey (be it dark or light). My favourite color it turquoise or aquamarine, try and find that on ANY manufacturers paint palette.

  7. The “Fifty” Camaro just might be what I’ll get. The perfect evolution of the 2006 Camaro Concept. This is probably the best Chevrolet ever built.

  8. It’s the best color. That’s why it was chosen.
