The 2017 Cadillac XTS is the recipient of various minor changes and updates.
On the outside, three colors are replaced with three new ones:
Deleted Colors
- Dark Emerald Metallic
- Graphite Metallic
- Silver Coast Metallic
New Colors
- Phantom Gray Metallic
- Deep Amethyst Metallic
- Bronze Dune Metallic
All of the new colors will not be available at the start of production and extra-cost hues on all models except for the Platinum or V-Sport Platinum trims. In addition, there will be a new set of 20-inch Sterling Silver premium pointed aluminum wheels on the Premium Luxury and Platinum V-Sport trims.
What’s more, the 2017 XTS adopts the new Cadillac trim level structure:
- The base Standard 1SA is renamed to XTS 1SA
- Luxury Collection 1SC is renamed Luxury 1SC
- Premium Collection 1SC renamed to Premium Luxury 1SC
- Premium V-Sport Twin Turbo 1SK renamed Premium Luxury V-Sport Twin Turbo 1SK
This means that the “Collection” modifier is deleted for the Luxury and Premium trims, the XTS badge receives a revised font for the “S” (likely to minimize confusion with the new Cadillac XT5), and the all-wheel drive designator is changed from “4” to “AWD”.
The interior of the 2017 XTS sees the following technology updates that mirror those of the 2017 Cadillac CTS:
- Updated Cadillac CUE (Info 2.6 version) that includes Collection and Teen Driver:
- Collection enables access to browse, select and install apps to the vehicle. Apps include Pandora, iHeart Radio, The Weather Channel and more (data plan rates may apply).
- Teen Driver is a configurable feature that lets you activate customizable vehicle settings associated with a key fob to encourage safe driving behavior. It can limit certain vehicle features, and it prevents certain safety systems from being turned off. An in-vehicle report gives you information on your teen’s driving habits and helps you to continue to coach your new driver.
- Enhanced Base Cluster that includes upgraded graphics definition and appearance (we don’t have pictures of this yet)
There are also two changes to interior packages:
- The Memory Seat Package (A44) is no longer available on Luxury, as it’s replaced by RPO Code A45 that includes memory for the driver’s seat, with passenger memory no longer available
- Lane Keep Assist package (UHX) description changes to: Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning (Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum FWD)

Comments
The interior of the XTS for me is very very elegant
True. It’s pretty similar to that of the ATS and CTS.
But softer, which is nice.
Are you referring to the design being softer, or the suspension/chassis/ride? The design is nearly the same as the others… but the ride is softer, yes. Overly so in my opinion, but that’s the point of the XTS and its target market.
XTS came out with the newer interior style first, followed by CTS and ATS.
To stiffen the suspension and steering, you need only shift to manual (“sport”) mode. It feels and drives much like an SRX then. “Sport” is a misnomer.
My passengers commonly remark how smooth the ride is.
2019 was the last year mentioned for XTS production. It will be interesting to compare XTS and CT6 sales figures once the initial CT6 intro-buzz fades. At the moment, XTS is outselling both ATS and CTS.

Has a retirement date for the XTS been anounced yet?
2018 will be the last year!
I would think we will see the XTS till 2018 or maybe 19. By this time Cadillac should have most of the CT? cars on the market. I would also think once the XTS bows out, we will see some sort of larger flagship that will sit above the CT6. Maybe i am in denial, but I still believe without a doubt Cadillac has a mega flagship in the works regardless of what the internet has been saying ?
It does. The CT7/CT8 program has not been killed. Rather, Cadillac has placed the priority on CUV/SUV production and delayed somewhat the launch of these vehicles. look to Sometime shortly after 2019.
The XTS is the second or third most common Cadillac I see in my area. I see more than the CTS and ATS, and slightly less than the SRX.
Love my xts best car i’ve ever had. my dts was great but the xts is even better. Cadillac is on a roll. great value.Keep up the ood work. can’t wait to drive the ct6
Like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic……
Currently drive 2016 XTS FWD “premium collection”. Very, very pleased with it. New 2017 XTS ordered and expected to arrive late August. Compared CT6 but at least $10K more and not convinced worth the extra cost. The XTS retains a more sedate interior in my opinion, less “sporty”. I’m an old fogey (67 years) so that likely makes a difference. Used to drive Lincoln MKS, also very good, more powerful engine, but not quite up to XTS standards.
Got 2017 XTS on August 31, 2016. Car is fine (except failure to deliver wooden knob on gear shift as advertised) but nothing but problems with OnStar which still isn’t working properly (WiFi functioning is mercurial, mostly defective). Apparently a replacement OnStar computer module (or whatever makes it work) has been ordered but supposed to take 2 weeks to arrive (outlandish in this era of couriers in my opinion).
