2017 Cadillac XT5 Launches In China

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 should be arriving at dealerships in the United States shortly, but simultaneously, the brand’s latest crossover has launched in China.

Cadillac announced the XT5’s launch this past Tuesday, and provided pricing for the midsize luxury crossover. In China, the 2017 XT5 will be available starting at RMB 359,900, or $55,486 USD, and may be configured up to RMB 539,900, or $83,236 USD.

2017 Cadillac XT5 China Launch

“The upscale Cadillac XT5 is targeted at individuals who embrace innovation,” said SAIC-GM President Wang Yongqing. “These are social leaders and professionals who envision new avenues of creativity that demonstrate their success and ambition. The overall design, comfort, performance and technology of the XT5 will meet their desire for a crossover that embodies modern American luxury.”

Cadillac can get away with these more premium prices in China, where the brand hardly suffers from an image issue. In fact, Cadillac is revered as a more youthful vehicle than the brand’s rivals.

The 2017 XT5 will arrive in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, denoting either a 28T or 25T trimming. Both trims are powered by the 2.0-liter LTG turbo four-cylinder, with power shifted through an eight-speed automatic.

The Cadillac XT5 is available across the People’s Republic now, alongside the recently launched 2016 Cadillac CT6.

  1. The most expensive Equinox in the world!

It does seem about 15k too high, but if the market will pay for it, then take it to the bank.

    1. The market will bear it.
Also since production is being done at the new Cadillac plant in China they will avoid the 25% import tax and make the truck that more competitive.
Look for a significant increase in SRX/XT5 sales compared to 2015.

    2. The Equinox is not build at the Cadillac plant there and there is no 3rd generation model out so your comment have no merit. Nice try though.

    3. You do realize that the XT5 is bigger then the Equinox right? and about ten times more luxurious. Also compared to the other brands in the segment i.e. Audi, BMW, and Benz they are the cheapest.

  2. When is the new XT5 going to be at dealers? Looks like they have some post production problems?

  3. I was at my Cadillac dealership today for an oil change on my SRX . My salesman told me they have 4 XT5″s on order since mid March . It’s better that Cadillac has a successful launch even if it takes a couple more weeks to get it right .
Plus he took me to the center of the sales floor to show me the new CT6 . I had seen it at the NAIAS in January but never got to sit it in and start it up like I did today . This car is #uckin’ awesome . The touch pad for CUE is just in the right spot on the console to use . And the room in the back seat is huge . I’m 6’5″ and left the drivers seat in the spot I would to drive it , climbed in the backseat right behind the drivers seat and my knees had a good 4-5 inches from the back of that seat . There is alot of room back there , enough for 3 people .
This is a CADILLAC . No doubt about it .

  4. One has to wonder whether Cadillac’s XT3 will be a modified Buick Encore with Cadillac’s current styling cues and then a XT7 that will be a XT5 with third row seating with the XT9 being a possible Escalade replacement.
