Taking to the track is one thing. Anything could wrong as you watch out for other drivers, and hope the vehicle stays entirely mechanically sound. Sometimes, worse things happen, like losing your brakes.
Again, losing your brakes is one thing, but losing them at the hairpin at Sebring International Raceway is another. And it’s a scary thing. The driver of this Chevrolet Camaro, who has been identified as Audi USA Manager of Motorsport, Tristan Herbert, handles the happenings as gracefully as he can.
Herbert maneuvers to the run off section of the track, before taking the Camaro off the beaten path and plowing through a metal gate. However, just to top it off, a pickup truck begins to exit as Herbert bajas through the grass after smashing through the gate. He quickly steers in-between a few trees and the truck to keep everyone safe. He ultimately holds it together, cruising through the parking lot and back into a safe area before coming to a complete stop.
And with that, enjoy your oh-shit moment for the day.

“Yeah, the brakes just totally went out without warning in that hairpin turn”. Casual observer points out the loud squeal exhibited through the corners before the failure. “Huh, what do you know, that squeal had something to do with the brakes?”
This guy put himself and others at risk by not shutting it down when the squeal started.
Have you ever heard high performance brake pads before? they squeal like crazy.
Tim is correct as If you have ever been around or driven a race car you would know a squeal like this is normal.
The Cars I have driven even with new pads can sound like steel on steel.
Also when the pads are cold they can be difficult to stop till the heat gets in them too.
This guy more than likely lost a master cylinder or line. He still had brakes to at least two brakes as you can see him still slow as low speed. It is nearly impossible to lose all brakes unless you pedal breaks off.
