Shanghai OnStar has just introduced a new mobile app known as Xiao O, which allows OnStar users to make their requests without manual input thanks to natural voice recognition capabilities. This OnStar function is a first for the onboard telematics service industry in China.
How’s it work? Well, it’s simple and straightforward; after opening the OnStar mobile app, users can switch from the Service Package Experience display to Xiao O and click a corresponding icon to take advantage of the service. Alternatively, users can also access this function by clicking on ‘Image Switching’ from the mobile app homepage.
From what we understand, Xiao O is like an Apple Siri for OnStar. You can ask it questions like, “How is the weather today,” or “What is the fastest route to the Douliou Baseball Stadium?” You can even ask it for personal information, such as the user’s license plate and engine number. We’re sure that the 800,000 (give or take) registered users who may come to use this software will find that it is a small yet significant convenience.
