The late and great Pontiac G8 GT, much like the current Chevrolet SS, is a perfect solution for those who wish to have the rich power of a V8, but also the family-friendly benefits of a four-door sedan. And we can thank Holden and some insightful GM brass for the existence of the G8 (VE Commodore).
The G8 GT you see in this Smoking Tire video has been fitted with a few modifications that help make it a bit less of a sleeper. First off is the exhaust that’ll turn everyone’s head: Kooks long-tube headers paired with the Solo Mach shorty exhaust. The G8 also has a Vararam cold-air intake bolted on, and it’s all enhanced by a Pat G tune. The suspension is reworked a bit too, with Monroe GT Sport shocks and Eibach performance springs.
All these aftermarket components come together to create the white unicorn you see on the screen before you. It’s a magical creature with a rich Australian heritage, and it offers comparable performance along with daily-driving practicality.

I’ve been trying to get Matt to feature my car for so long… This blows… My car is so much better
Although I lust after an SS, I LOVE my G8 GT. If an SS is ever in my future, the G8 will be right there with it. It’s a keeper!
Last April I found a Pontiac G8 GT in blue….with only 8,300 miles. There is no way I’ll ever get rid of this car. It’s a keeper for sure!
