Previously, we reported Opel had very little intention to bring the GT concept into production. But, it seems attitudes may be changing, after Motor Trend spoke briefly with Opel CEO, Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.
“This car is a dream,” he said, following those few words with, “All I can say is I hope the dream comes true.”
It’s clear Neumann has a lot of love for the stunning, futuristic concept vehicle, which was designed to showcase the brand’s future as a whole. When it comes to building a true Opel GT for the modern era, Neumann’s tone also surprised.
“It is perfectly possible to build it,” Neumann said in an interview. But, without a legitimate business case for General Motors, it’s a tough sell. We also question what a newborn GT could be built upon, knowing Neumann shares our love for rear-wheel drive.
If built, the front-mid-engine Mazda MX-5 Miata-fighter “must be rear-wheel drive,” Neumann said.

The tail screams Buick with the bulbous ass. I guess Buick’s growth is blowing back on Mark Adam’s design studio and that’s not a good thing.
I love the red tire. Reminds me of the PSA Monkey Butt compact saloon concept.
