General Motors Files Trademark Application For ‘VELECTRA’

General Motors filed an application to register “VELECTRA” as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, GM Authority has discovered.

The automaker’s March 23rd, 2016 application is assigned serial number 86950272 and specifies that the mark will be used in conjunction with “Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles.”

So, a Buick Electra and Velite walk into a bar… and come out with a baby named Velectra.

Corny bar joke(s) aside, the Velite name has all the makings of a Buick, whether in concept or production form. The question now is, what kind of a vehicle would a Velectra be?

  4. I think Buck should bring back the Electra nameplate. It’s recognizable by old customers and makes for a cool name for new ones. It just fits these days. GM wants to use the Voltec power train in other platforms and I think Buick should make one. I’d buy it.

  5. Sounds like A plugin outlander competitor with a volt power train and a tesla model X sized interior , I would buy that in a flash!
