General Motors has launched a new platform to cater better to small businesses and fleets. Meet Commercial Link, GM’s answer to fleet vehicle management. The system provides real-time information such as location, fuel level, miles driven and maintenance needs at any time.
The system is backed by the analytics and hardware of OnStar, and is meant to provide a linear, factory-installed approach to a system without adding aftermarket equipment.
Location, speed, fuel, maintenance and reporting are all included in the service, and can be monitored individually. Reports for each factor are also available, including charts and graphs for business expense purposes.
“Our customers are always looking for ways to increase the productivity of their vehicles, while at the same time saving money to become a better business,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, General Motors Fleet. “Commercial Link is going to give them an up-to-date component they crave so that they are always in touch with their vehicles’ performance and location, no matter where they are.”
Commercial link is available for 2015 model year and newer Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC vehicles, and instant access to vehicle information through a website is available for $10 per month. Commercial Link will also receive a dedicated application for Apple and Android devices this summer.
