About The Numbers
- 24 selling days for February 2016 and 24 for February 2015
Good results all around.
The interesting thing for me is that the Sierra volume is higher than the Silverado month to month and so far YTD. That is odd since the Silverado consistently outsells the Sierra 3 or 4 to 1 in the U.S. market.
In Canada the GMC twin nearly always outsells the Chevy.
That is a little odd when you think about it. Chevrolet has a much larger dealer network.
GMC is king of fleet sales in Canada. Oil field servicing and procurement, etc…
Still..there has to be something there as to why they sell so well since it is not about price since the Silverado is cheaper.
Again, it’s about the fleet (commercial) contracts. The price of the Sierra and Silverado is identical on the fleet side of the house.
For some context: some of these commercial contracts have been in place for decades. GMC got them initially (back when GMC and Chevy competed head to head as individual divisions) since GMC trucks’ commercial field sales team got out ahead of Chevy in the beginning, and it has been more or less that way ever since. They’re continuing these relationships based on this trend.
It has nothing to do with dealers (as these often are not purchased at dealers and are often delivered to the customers at their worksites) or pricing.
