Facelifted Chevrolet Sonic Spied Wearing More Conventional Cues

We’re not entirely sure if Chevrolet will bring the refreshed and updated Sonic as a 2017 model, or 2018 model, but it’s on its way.

Despite slow sales last year, the upcoming Chevrolet Sonic will be refreshed inside and out, and Car Advice has the latest photos of the Chevy Sonic, also know as the Holden Barina down under.

The biggest takeaway from the latest spy shots are the headlamps, which seem to ditch the very cool semi-exposed units for more conventional ones with LED strips. The entire front fascia seems to be taking a more angular look, and will likely reference the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze when it comes to identifying the Sonic as an all new Chevy.

If Chevrolet intends for the updated Sonic to enter as a 2017 model year, expect a debut possibly at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, or even an early 2017 reveal.

  1. The 1.6T or even 2.0T would be very welcome!

  2. It’s actually the departures from traditional that I dislike most about the Sonic. It’s far from bring unattractive, but its exposed lights look… odd. And digital instrumentation has never rally come off as any thing other than a gimmick. I’d welcome at least a standard of analog gauges and covered up headlights, with optional exposed/digital.

Otherwise, just make sure there’s a configuration for everyone. And make sure there’s no one configuration that outdoes any other one to any grand extent that would make settling for a slightly lesser one to avoid unwanted things feel like a huge loss. Play it smart like they mostly have with the current model. All will be well!
