Corvette Brand Celebrating 60 Years Of Racing At Sebring This Week

The 2016 12 Hours of Sebring will be the 60th running of the race since the Corvette first raced there in 1956. Since then Chevrolet has chalked up 27 class victories at Sebring, 22 of which were by a production-based Corvette and nine of which were won by Corvette Racing.

This weekend, Corvette Racing drivers Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner, Marcel Fässler, Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller will try to make it 10 victories for Corvette Racing at Sebring. The team is fresh off a huge 1-2 result at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January and will be looking to take some of the momentum of that win with them to Florida.

Corvette Racing will de defending their 2015 GTLM class win at Sebring this year, which served as the second leg of an endurance racing triple crown that also included the 24 hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans. It may be a tall order to repeat the triple crown this year with ramped up competition it GTE Pro at Le Mans, but don’t put it past the immensely experienced Corvette Racing team.

Corvette Racing and their No. 3 and No. 4 Corvette C7.Rs will contest the 64th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring this Saturday. The race will start at 10:40 a.m. ET and will air on FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2 and FOX Sports Go thorough its 12-hour duration. Live audio coverage from IMSA Radio will also be available via IMSA.com.
