  1. Nobody drives corvettes in canada. They have traction for only 6 months of the year. This is like saying 100% increase in sales from 1 to 2 cars.

    1. Yes, the Canadian volume is low (at 27 units) compared to the U.S.’ 2,166.

A good set of winter tires alleviates the traction argument.

  2. announcing cars like the GS a year in advance is going to slow down the sales of other corvette models as the customers are going to wait till next year. GM should not announce these cars till they are ready to deliver them

  3. This is a result of selective allotment by Chev USA. Took pity on the Canadian dealers who “ponied up” for the special Corvette tool, equipment and training. System no different than 40 years ago.

    1. Well, that’s not how GM’s vehicle allocation system works… there is no “pity”. But even if that were the case, the Canadian sales still don’t make up for the drop in U.S. sales.

      1. Yeah, ’cause not everyone can afford a new ‘Vette. Paychecks suck, cost of living is going up, but we’re still employed and life is great, right?? Not……Most ‘Vette owners buy used and don’t take the off the showroom floor depreciation unless they have $$ to piss away. If GM was serious about the sales loss, they would lower prices a bit instead of raising them to show a potential buyer they know how tough times REALLY are and want their business instead of looking for more record profits. Think about it, this applies to all their vehicles.

        1. BTW, that’s why mustang sales are almost 2:1 over camaro. Not because it’s a better car, but because it’s a better bang for the buck value which is crazy when you look at their crate motor prices vs GM. I drive GM products but for the price, ford has caught up significantly, which is why you always see more mustangs on the road. Will they hold their value? Most likely not but their initial out of pocket cost is also much lower for the new car buyer.

  4. Not sure all the hub bub.
No one drives Corvettes here in Canada in winter. Sure, you see the odd Camaro, but not a Corvette.
    A) Dealers don’t order them to sit on lots.
    b)They’re gone quick
c)Even if they are on the lot, depending on the tire, they can’t be test driven in cold weather.

Couple years ago I had my eyes on some CTS-V’s (eyes only of course), and they sat at dealers from October until about now. Then they were gone as soon as the weather got about 10C (which are what those CTS-V (and other) tires can minimally handle.

Plus, with the new Camaro being well reviewed and SS performance matching a Stingray (more or less), for a cheaper price, I think some are waiting to see if that’s going to be a better value proposition for the performance bug. Also the Camaro has a backseat for throwing groceries or for any of family members who are missing legs.
