2016 Hennessey Chevrolet Camaro Shatters Past The 200 MPH Mark: Video

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is proving to be a very capable vehicle to modify. A number of well-respected performance and tuning divisions have already gone to town and created some real monsters for the street and track.

Notably, Hennessey Performance Engineering has gone bonkers, and boosted output of the regular 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS to a whopping 751 hp and 643 lb-ft of torque with the standard 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine. With its handy TVS2300 supercharger, and a host of other upgrades, HPE took to the Continental Tire Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas, to see just how fast its performance package was.

Guess what? It’s fast. Really fast.

HPE clocked the 2016 Camaro SS at 202.1 mph. Two-zero-two. How about a dose of perspective for that number; that’s only 19 mph off from the McLaren F1’s record setting speed in 1998 of 221 mph. And this is performance from a very attainable sports car.

Check out the video above for yourself, and prepare to be blown away.

  2. It would be something if Hennessey Performance did something interesting like following the comments Dan Nicholson (VP of GM Global Propulsion) suggested on Autoline.tv After Hours which is to have battery powered electric motors generate the extra punch usually associated with Nitrous Oxide injection or even turbocharging.

  3. That’s great to hear but the title says “Shatters Past 200 mph Mark”. shattering would be over 220 in my opinion. A more accurate title would be 2016 Hennessey Chevrolet Camaro breaks or passes The 200 MPH Mark: Video. But then I guess people wouldn’t read it then
