1980 C3 Corvette Said To Have GM Designer Bill Mitchell’s Blessing: eBay Find

Bill Mitchell has a lot to take credit for at General Motors. The late, great automotive designer touched countless vehicles over the decades he was a part of GM design.

This particular C3 Corvette wasn’t part of Mitchell’s design, however. In fact, the link to Mitchell seems quite weak, according to the 1980 C3 Corvette’s sale page on eBay. But, its “historical” presence is said to be traced back to a successor to Mitchell’s “Great White” Corvette.

The 1980 Corvette sits with only 700 miles on the odometer, and wears some very time appropriate paint hues.

It could be either the best, or worst, way to spend $250,000. There’s no documentation to back up the Mitchell linkage, but how cool would it be to know this Corvette had his blessing.

  2. This particular example of a Corvette could be signed by Louis Chevrolet or Zora Arkus-Duntov and I could still think of something better to do with 250K. Typical late 70’s – 80’s craptactular modification/conversion. Kids this is what disco and drugs did to your parents and grandparents.

  4. It’s just a Corvette wearing either a Greenwood or Eckler body kit. There’s ZERO connection to Mitchell’s 1968 “Great White” show car Corvette.

Yes, it’s Electric Kool-Aid late 70s early 80s, but no where near the eyesore of the Corvette Summer car. And NOT worth $250,000.

  5. I think this Vette is drop dead gorgeous, definitely the nicest c3 corvette I have ever seen. If I had 250.000 I would buy it. It also sounds like your trashing the owner of the car to me. How do you know what documentation comes with the car? Have you seen all the paperwork that comes with the vehicle? Awesome corvette however, thanks for posting it.

  6. When I was very young, we lived down the street from Bill Mitchell in Florida. My dad would bring lemonade over to his house, because he did not “Drink anymore” my dad said. My dad was an alcoholic. I remember this car in his garage. I always thought it was the coolest thing I ever seen. Thank you for this article.
