Solve for X:
X = Chevy Midsize Pickup Truck + Z71 Package + Sinister Black-Out Goodness
If you answered Chevy Colorado Z71 Midnight Edition, then you were absolutely correct. Other acceptable answers include Pure Awesomeness as well as Brooding and Sinister, personified. But it’s ok if you didn’t get it right. Not only because we’re not here to judge, but also because no one will ever know. And also because this truck is a stunner.
The 2016 Chevy Colorado Z71 Midnight Edition comes on the heels of astounding success achieved by the Silverado 1500 Midnight Edition. Demand for the Silverado Midnight outstripped supply in mere months after the trucks’ launch. So, it only makes sense for Chevy to build on that success with the Colorado.
The 2016 Chevy Colorado Z71 Midnight Edition delivers the following features:
- Off-road suspension
- Locking rear differential
- Transfer case shield
- Hill Descent Control
- Aggressive Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires
- All-black front end with body-colored grille, bumper, headlamp bezels, tow hooks and fog lamps
- Black side moldings and beltline moldings
- Black painted alloy wheels
- Special Z71 badges on the doors
- Spray-in bedliner (in black)
- Black Chevrolet bowties for the front and rear
The 2016 Colorado Z71 Midnight Edition joins the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 Midnight Edition and 2016 Chevy Silverado HD Z71 Midnight Edition at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show.

The black painted wheels are the drawback (which is actually most of the price of the Midnight edition). the truck looks good. it just needs the cast aluminum rims that come on the regular Z71.
That’s the whole point. It’s a black-out edition. But I wonder how many feel the same way you do and if there is demand to offer a black-out truck sans black-out wheels.
I guess you could buy it as is, and then sell the black wheels (tons of demand for those) and buy the cast aluminum ones…
Actually, allot of folks like the “murder look” This will sell well. But IMO, black is too much work to keep clean and its too hot in the summer.
Had someone knowledgeable tell me young people like black wheels, older people cannot get used to it. Being an older person, I don’t like them and think that polished wheels are the perfect contrast to a blacked-out paint treatment.
Of course it’s a moot point because I would never buy another black vehicle, as another commenter said, it’s too much work to keep them clean and they look awful when they’re dirty.
