Phil Kienle Named New Manufacturing Vice President For Opel-Vauxhall

Another round of executive shuffle has taken place at Opel-Vauxhall. Phil Kienle, currently GM International and GM China Manufacturing Vice President, has been tapped to become the new Vice Present of Manufacturing for Opel. Kienle will also reside on the Management Board of Opel Group.

Kienle will succeed Peter Thom, who has been appointed to North America Quality Vice President. Both appointments will be effective as of March 1, 2016.

“Phil Kienle’s strong leadership and global manufacturing experience comes at a critical time for our operations in Europe,” said Jim DeLuca, Executive Vice President, GM Global Manufacturing. “He’ll continue Peter Thom’s momentum and lead manufacturing’s support of Opel/Vauxhall’s most aggressive vehicle offensive in its history.”

In this new role, Kienle will be responsible for the operations at all the manufacturing facilities across Europe. He will report to Jim DeLuca and Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.

“We welcome Phil Kienle to the Opel Group top management team. We are looking forward to working with him and taking advantage of his global manufacturing expertise. He is the right person to continue the excellent work performed by Peter Thom,” said Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.
