Opel’s trophy-winning success in 2015 seems to have continued into the new year as GM’s German subsidiary comes away with two more following the 40th “Best Cars” readers’ choice awards held by Germany’s popular Auto Motor Und Sport magazine.
Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann, and CMO Tina Müller attended the show and accepted the awards. The new Adam takes first place in mini-car segment once again while the IntelliLux LED matrix lighting on the Astra K wins the “International Paul Pietsch Award 2016” award for innovative technology.
There’s a lot to appreciate with the new Adam, such as its two new colors and hoard of new tech including Apple CarPlay, Opel OnStar, and 4G LTE Wireless – no wonder it earned 26 percent of all votes placed.
This isn’t the first award Opel has earned for its IntelliLux LED matrix lighting, which premiered on the all-new Astra. The innovative tech will allow drivers to see more at night without distracting fellow drivers.
“We are democratizing high-tech solutions, making innovations affordable and integrating them in our volume models. Our new IntelliLux LED matrix light is the perfect example. By introducing this technology in the compact class Opel is the first manufacturer to offer this highly efficient and powerful lighting system in the compact segment,” said Neumann upon receiving the “International Paul Pietsch Award 2016”.

Badge-engineer it into a Buick, use the new-language grill (a la 2017 LaCrosse), and I’ll buy it.
