Irmscher will transform 100 units of the Opel Karl (Vauxhall Viva) into what is known as the “Race Edition” Karl. But don’t get too excited, as the use of the word ‘race’Â does not mean any sort of performance enhancements for the small car.
What changes are made, then, you ask? Well, they are purely cosmetic. The 16-inch Turbo Star alloy wheels along with the hood stripes and side decals give the Karl a sportier look. It’s the perfect for solution for those who wish to drive a fuel-efficient compact car with a bit of style.
The jogging suit get-up can be considered just a gimmick, though, because the little 1.0L 3-cylinder engine of the Opel Karl doesn’t have enough muscle for us to consider it sporty.
It’s not that we have anything against the exclusive ‘look at me now’ Race Edition Karl – we just prefer a car that has functional modifications to go along with the cosmetic enhancements, as is the case with the limited edition Adam S that Opel will offer in South Africa.
