General Motors has just published the order guide for the all-new, 2017 GMC Acadia. The 45-page-long guide contains quite a bit of we’ve wanted to know about Big Red’s now-midsize crossover.
The 2017 Acadia will be available in the following trim levels:
- SL
- SLE:
- SLE-1
- SLE-2
- SLT:
- SLT-1
- SLT-2
- Denali
That splits out into 11 models, when drive wheels are factored in:
Front Wheel-Drive
- FWD SL 1SV (TNH26), not available to order at start of production
- FWD SLE-1 (TNB26)
- FWD SLE-2 (TNC26)
- FWD SLT-1 (TND26)
- FWD SLT-2 (TNE26)
- FWD Denali (TNF26)
All Wheel-Drive
- AWD SLE-1 (TNJ26)
- AWD SLE-2 (TNK26)
- AWD SLT-1 (TNL26)
- AWD SLT-2 (TNM26)
- AWD Denali (TNN26)
Items of particular interest to us include:
- Engines:
- 2.5 LCV I4 standard on SL, SLE and SLT-1 trim levels. It is the only engine in the Acadia that has auto stop-start, while the upmarket LGX doesn’t
- 3.6L LGX V6 only available on SLE-2 and SLT-1, while being standard on SLT-2 and Denali trim levels
- Seating configurations: the 2017 Acadia offers the following three seating configurations:
- 7-passenger, 2-3-2 seating configuration (ABA) standard on SL and SLE-1 and available on SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2, and Denali
- 6-passenger, 2-2-2 seating configuration (ABB) is standard on SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2 and Denali, but is not available on SL or SLE-1
- 5-passenger, 2-3 seating configuration (ABD) is available exclusively on SLT-1 with All Terrain package
- Eight exterior colors will be offered, only one of which is a regular-cost option
- Other features:
- The (very useful) 3-prong, 120-volt household style outlet (KI6) at the rear of center console is standard on the SLT-1, SLT-2 and Denali trim levels
- All 2017 Acadia models have front active upper and lower shutters (WMI) except for SLT-2 and Denali, likely due to different front grille configurations
- High intensity discharge headlamps (T4F) standard on Denali and not available on other models, while projector beams are standard on everything else
- Manual lift gate standard on SL and SLE-1 while all other trims receive the power lift gate (TB5), except for the Denali, which gets a hands-free power lift gate (TC2)
- Outside mirrors:
- Heated, power adjustable, body-color, manual-folding mirrors (DR5) standard on SL, SLE-1 and SLE-2
- Heated, power-adjustable, driver-side auto-dimming, body-color, manual folding mirrors (DR2) on SLT-1, SLT-2 and Denali
- We take issue with the mirrors not being power-folding or having the auto-dimming feature on the passenger side
- Wheels:
- 17-inch aluminum wheels (RSC) are standard on SL and SLE-1
- 18-inch aluminum wheels (RSZ) are standard on SLE-2
- Another set of 18-inch wheels (RQH) are standard on SLT-1
- 20-inch bright aluminum wheels (RTG) are standard on SLT-2
- Another 20-inch polished aluminum wheels (RTU) are standard on Denali
- Yet another 20-inch aluminum wheel (SN9) is exclusively included in the SLT-1 package on the 2017 Acadia All-Terrain
- All models have an 18-inch steel spare except for the base SL
- Active Safety: active safety packages are split up into Driver Alert Package I and Driver Alert Package II:
- Driver Alert Package I (B26) is available on SLE-2 and is standard on the SLT-1. It includes:
- (UKC) Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert
- (UFG) Rear Cross Traffic
- (UD7) Rear Park Assist
- Driver Alert package II (BGP) is standard on the SLT-2 and Denali and includes:
- (UKC) Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Departure Warning
- (UHY) low speed Front Automatic Braking
- (UKJ) front Pedestrian detection
- (TQ5) IntelliBeam Headlamps
- (UD5) Front and Rear Park Assist
- (UFG) Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- (UHX) Lane Keep Assist
- (UE4) Following Distance Indicator
- (UEU) Forward Collision Alert and Safety Alert Driver Seat
- Driver Alert Package I (B26) is available on SLE-2 and is standard on the SLT-1. It includes:

I wonder if we lost HUD because of the XT5…..also curious about the 6-passenger has that been pictured anywhere?
Unfortunate that 5 – pass seating not more available. I have a 2015 SLT-1 with 7-pass. This results in 300 – 400 lbs of dead weight to haul. There will NEVER ever be anyone back in those seats. I also do not require 20″ tires.
If one never needs 7 seats, does it make sense to buy Acadia then – the vehicle this big? Maybe GMC Terrain is enough in this case?
Or maybe the vast space inside Acadia with rear seats being folded is needed to haul some cargo from time to time?
And there is 5 passenger seating in new 2017 Acadia, as mentioned in the article text. Just, again, new Acadia is 7-seats-first vehicle, and 5 seats is an option – not the other way around.
Ridiculous that there are 10 models?!? Simplify GM – have you not learned anything from the Japanese? Package 3 levels at the most and be done with it!
Actually, the Acadia offers one model less than its most direct rival — the Toyota Highlander. The Toyota offers 11 models… one more than the GMC.
When will pricing be available?
A month before launch, most likely. So if the launch is in “spring 2016” (March, April, May), then a month before either one of those.
Better be cheaper than a Pilot because the pilot is bigger with better fuel economy.
Actually about the same size…… If you’re talking about the volume then yes. But legroom wise about the same
But Hondas are cheaply made. Have you driven a honda compared to a GMC? The GMC is so much more quiet and smoother.
11 models are too many…..Consumers get too confused .
Poor argument about Highlanders….nobody takes Acadia off road.
It’s not 11 models… it’s 6 models, 5 of which are available with AWD. Don’t think there will be any confusion over that.
As it relates to the Highlander comparison… are you suggesting that people take the Highlander offroad? It, too, is a crossover.
