GM China has recently earned its Top Employer Certification for 2016. The certification is granted to organizations that demonstrate the highest employment environment standards, and nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of their company.
“It is an honor for our company to be recognized,” said Robert Treme, director of Human Resources for GM China. “GM has become an automotive industry leader in China by making the personal and professional growth of our employees a priority.”
To determine whether or not a company fits the criteria, there’s an external audit, and performance scores are rated against an international standard. GM China received high ratings in multiple areas including talent development programs, career development initiatives, well-being programs, and networking activities.
In order to achieve these standards General Motors identified key focus areas and plans for improvement by participating in the Workplace of Choice surveys in 2012 and 2014. Even before these steps, GM had identified seven dimensions driving employee engagement and success:Â Commitment, Teamwork, Trust, Personal & Professional Growth, Recognition, Fairness, and Health & Well Being. It is with these aspects in mind that GM aims to create a Workplace of Choice.
“The many actions taken have been well received,” said Treme. “GM China continues listening to our employees and acting on their suggestions to support the ongoing expansion and excellence of our business.”
For those who may not know, GM will export both the 2016 Buick Envision and Cadillac CT6 from China to North America.
