First Production 2016 Chevy Camaro Brings In $500,000 For Charity

It doesn’t matter what you collect, the first edition is usually the best, most rare or sought after. That’s why automakers nearly always hand off VIN 001 for charity of sorts, because, as auto enthusiasts, we’re nuts for a rare vehicle.

The very first production 2016 Chevrolet Camaro has been auctioned off in the same fashion during the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. VIN 001 of the 2016 Camaro went to a good home for a whopping $500,000.

The 2016 Camaro for auction was a 2016 Camaro SS equipped with the 2SS package. The car wears a black exterior hue, complimented by Adrenaline Red accented leather interior. Of course, the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 is under the hood, and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The charity receiving the funds is the Kettering University, which is responsible for preparing students in a variety of STEM programs and business.
