If you have been holding out for a 2016 Opel Astra Sports Tourer, the day has finally come. While the 2016 Opel Astra K has been available for a few months now, Opel has made it known the wagon variant of Astra has officially entered production.
Employees were joined by Peter Thom, Vice President Manufacturing Opel Group, and Stefan Fesser, Ellesmere Port Plant Director, as the first vehicle left the production line. Opel has high hopes for this generation of Astra to help grow and bring the brand back into the black.
Based on the same D2XX architecture, the Astra Sports Tourer gains a longer appearance thanks to its divided C-pillar, and although dimensions remain nearly identical to the previous-generation Sports Tourer, passengers are treated to 1.02-inches of additional headroom, and 1.1-inches of additional legroom.
Opel and Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourers should be reaching local dealers shortly.

Is there any news about the Sports Tourer coming to the US badged as a Buick for the 2017 model year? It would be perfect for those of us who want the car-like design with the practical space of crossover. German and Japanese automakers sell similar designs in the US and with the public’s preferences for more capable vehicles, this would be perfect in the Buick and GM portfolio.
Good thought. I would like to see something like this in the US too. But Chevy should have it and Buick a hatch version I think.
I was leaning towards the Chevy Crux 5-Door, but as XM66 remarked, this rebadged as a Buick wouldn’t hurt either. Come on GM brig us what we want, not another SUV !
Can’t wait to get mine! Hoping it’ll be here (Norway) in early May!
