2017 Buick Encore Suiting Up For A New York Debut

Today, Opel revealed the facelifted and freshened Mokka X, a more rugged big-brother to the regular Mokka. If you missed the reveal, you can read all the details right here.

However, corporate-cousin Buick has commented on the matter, and let it slide we will be seeing the 2017 Buick Encore sooner rather than later, following the Mokka X. According to the brand, the 2017 Buick Encore will make its debut at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, where it will likely wear design akin to the new Mokka X.

Other than the product reveal confirmation, the brand stated it has no new details to announce at this time. Though, if we ventured to guess, we’d expect a fall launch date for the 2017 Encore, much like the Mokka X.

It’s very plausible to expect the waterfall grille to be phased out for the 2017 Encore, noting the past two major concept debuts by Buick, Avenir and Avista, ditched the waterfall for an Opel-esque winged piece. The Mokka X’s design language also speaks very well as a Buick, in our eyes.

The 2017 Encore will be the fourth new Buick product to launch this coming year, joining the 2016 Cascada, 2017 LaCrosse and 2016 Envision crossover.

  1. The Mokka X looks great, and very premium. I do hope they will swap out the grille for the Encore though. I don’t mind minimizing of the waterfall grille on the Avenir and 2017 Lacrosse, but I’ll be sad to see it go away completely as seen here or on the Avista.

  2. I hope we get some features befitting of a “near luxury” vehicle — like memory seats, and a power lift gate.

  3. A Hyundai Elantra GT has a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled seats, etc, and starts at $18,800. I hope GM is stepping up and putting some more features in with this update….

    1. But is Hyundai premium lol? At 18k, those aren’t standard stuff.

      1. They may not be standard, but they aren’t even available on the Encore…..why are cars that are considered “lower” than Encore beating it out with available features??

  4. Wish list items for the 2017 Buick Encore would be a 8-speed automatic and the new 1.6L turbo-diesel scheduled for the Chevy Cruze.
