2017 Buick Encore Spied Uncovered Ahead Of New York Debut

Buick’s ties to Opel couldn’t be more evident after seeing these spyshots from our friends at Autoblog. The 2017 Buick Encore was spied completely nude without cladding or camouflage to distort the refreshed sheetmetal, and guess what? It’s an Opel Mokka X.

Buick released a brief statement following the reveal of the 2017 Opel Mokka X ahead of the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, stating the 2017 Encore would make its debut in the Big Apple and follow a similar design to the Mokka X.

It’s a good look for the Encore, one that ditches its more portly aesthetics, and puts on a decidedly more premium-looking face. The rear receives new taillights, and Buick’s colored tri-shield badge returns once again for its latest product. Surely this will be more than enough to find the 2017 Encore new homes.

  2. It may just be me, but I could not see any of the portholes on the refreshed model.

    1. Because there are none. I do like the new look because it comes across as tougher looking.

  3. The 2017 Buick Encore appears to borrow from their Avista concept car with the shape of the 2017 Encore’s headlights and front grill as it shares a similar shape and what appears to be slender wings to either side of the Buick emblem. The look gives the 2017 Buick Encore a more sophisticated upmarket appearance.

  4. Not bad looking in the face, although the overall body design and profile still looks rather awkward! I’m certain the interior design mirrors the updated Mokka X, which is a good thing! Much like the successful Trax CUV, I’m sure the Encore will continue to maintain strong sales; and the updated will solidify this!

  5. The new face of Buick works well and the loss of Portholes are just fine.
