Watch The 1,100 HP 2JZ-Powered C3 Corvette Run The Strip: Video

Purists, avert your eyes. This isn’t the first time we’ve caught wind of this beast, but it is not your typical drag build, nor your standard C3 Corvette in the slightest.

The owner of this C3 Corvette stated in the video he plucked the 527-cubic inch V8 out of his beloved build, and swapped in a a Toyota 2JZ inline-six. Why would he do such a thing? Weight. Pure and simple.

The 2JZ inline-six is paired with a massive 76-mm turbocharger, which the owner says is currently pushing 1,100 hp, but expects better numbers once everything is truly dialed in.

After a brief interview with the owner, we’re treated to a sub nine-second pass down the quarter mile. This piece of American engineering with Japanese power is no joke. And the noises it makes, although delightful, certainly are strange upon launching the Corvette.

Check it out for yourself right up above.

  1. This video is sacrilege and we all know you can put any motor in any make/model. If the bozo couldn’t get a 527 with a cheap/small turbo to produce that kind of HP, if not more and LOTS more torque, he doesn’t deserve a Vette. Personally would have gone the LS swap route as 1,200 hp is easy with stock bottom end and boost with proper ring gap, tune, etc .
Sure you still need the heads, valvetrain, cam, induction to get there but total cost will still be below the 2JZ’s cost.
LS is simply superior and your own video proves it.
