Opel Variant Of 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV Rendered

General Motors has gone on the record to state Opel will not receive an electric vehicle tied to the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV in any way, shape or form. But, we did hear in the past of a “sibling” to the 2017 Bolt EV, rumored to be assembled alongside the Chevy at the Orion assembly.

Here, RM Design has given us a look at what Opel design could look like on the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV, and it’s looking quite handsome. Yes, the base of the vehicle is the Bolt EV concept, but, plenty of design cues have been added to look semi-production ready.

Notably, the wheels, taillights and mirrors all look production ready, though, we still love the more angular look from the Bolt EV concept over the more curvaceous production look that debuted at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show.

While a Bolt-branded Opel may be far off, an Opel Karl EV may be more likely, and could even resurrect the Trixx name, which graced a 2004 Opel concept based on the Agila, itself, a Suzuki.

  1. Looks a lot like Bolt except for a slightly more premium-looking belt line and b bright work.
Bolt EU is an obvious plus for GM in it’s competition with VW and Nissan/Renault.
A unique Volt would be an easy export, too. Such programs enlarge Opel line up at virtually no cost to The General.
