General Motors India has appointed Markus Sternberg as Vice President, Aftersales, General Motors India. The appointment is effective January 1st, 2016.
General Motors, which markets its Chevrolet vehicles in India, states that Mr. Sternberg’s rich experience of working across many countries and organizations across the world will enable him to be responsible for leading GM’s aftersales organization and deliver on its commitment to provide world class experience to its customers.
“The appointment of Markus further strengthens our commitment to the Indian market to offer world class vehicles along with delivering world class experience that our customers expect and deserve”, said Kaher Kazem, President and Managing Director of GM India. “Markus has a consistent record of high performance and brings in valuable knowledge of customer needs and preferences. We welcome him to GM India and are confident that his understanding of the business and international experience will be invaluable as we look to grow our presence in India.”
Sternberg brings over 26 years of global experience in the automotive and engineering industries, including a 4 year stint at GM U.S. as Regional Manager Parts & Service and at GM Daewoo Korea as Managing Director for Aftersales. On top of this, Markus has held various positions at Adam Opel AG and Vauxhall Motors which has shaped his understanding and passion for serving the customer. He recently moved to India from Germany where he held the position of Director Customer Services and Executive Director Customer Experience Europe at Opel/Vauxhall.

I feel confident that my past experience of working in the automotive space will support GM’s growth strategy and long-term commitment to India.”
Sternberg studied Mechanical Engineering with focus on Automotive Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe. He will be based at GM’s headquarters in Gurgaon reporting to Kaher Kazem, who was recently appointed President and Managing Director of General Motors India.
