We’ve heard plenty of horror stories regarding the 2016 C7 Corvette Z06 and heat issues. The Z06 loves to boil up after being pushed hard.
Thankfully, the aftermarket has come to the rescue for drivers that consistently push their Z06s to the limits on the track. LG Motorsports has announced it is very close to releasing their final stage two cooling kit for the car.
After months of testing, LG Motorsports says it has identified the situations and issues with heat and the 2016 Corvette Z06, thus, helping it engineer the right transmission and radiator options.
“Knowing there was a growing number of automatics on the track, we have developed a two stage attack plan to fight the dreaded ‘limp mode home’ when the car overheats.” LG Motorsports states.
The results are evident in the video above, but test driver, Lou Gigliotti, has some good things to say about the package.
“Baseline runs the car could only manage about 5 laps before it overheated on the 6th. With the new cooling package it could go 11-12 before the brakes boiled. Brake duct testing next time at the track! Water temps dropped almost 40 degrees and engine oil temps dropped almost 65 degrees from stock.”
Check out the video above, and stay tuned to LG Motorsports for when it will able to help you solve dreaded overheating issues.

I wonder if this heat would be a problem if the corvette was equipped with open headers to let out the exhaust heat ???
this isnt how it works. this should b a factory fix
Something is horribly wrong here. Here we have an alleged track car that overheats all it’s fluids @ the TRACK, in it’s SECOND year of production. This should have been corrected for 2016 but instead we get the C7.R Edition which is purely cosmetic to emulate a real race car. WTF GM? I can understand these issues with the base Stingray if pushed too hard at the track but NOT a Z06 Z07 pkg car. Give the gimmicky C7.R BS a rest and CORRECT, PERFECT, & FINISH this beast to whip a Viper ACR on the road and at the TRACK. Is that really asking too much?? Maybe your too busy with an electric variant most don’t want or a mid-engine model most can’t afford? Focus GM people, FOCUS….
I traveled over 8,000 miles the first three weeks in november. I was in florida twice all up and down the east coast and over to the corvette museum with my 2015 lt2 Z06. At times well over 80MPH just to keep up with traffic.
I had no over heating problems. The brakes also worked flawlessly even when i had to stand on them when people were driving like they owened the highways.
I traveled many interstate, state, federal and county roads. Some which i wish there were more of had twists and turns where they were steep, going up and down, where you could see your own tail lights.
I use mainly sport and track everywhere i go except when its raining cats and dogs and then i use weather. I tries eco and touring but found them boring. My Z06 is the automatic with 8spd paddle shift and me being a 100% disabled vet keeps me on the go so all of you out there going to tell me standard is the only way to go do not know what you are talking about. My C6 Z51 536hp had the 6spd paddle shift and i did 154mph at watkins glen with no brake problems and no overheating traveling 70 laps in one day.
With the miles i have put on since the end of may 2015, 15, 560 miles with my 15 Z06 and no problems at all except with team chevy.
Cant wait to get to a track this spring once the ice goes out. I am posative my Z06 corvette will handle anything i put it through.
Hello GM. I previously purchased brand new 1985 & 1998 Vettes. I would like to buy the 2016 Z06 3LZ manual at my local dealership. I enjoy using any car for its designed purpose. This purchase choice is up against a 2010 Ferrari 612 and a 2016 Benz S65 AMG Coupe. Yes, the competition is much higher price. And the S65 AMG Coupe is more GT than the other 2. But I have hoped this was THE Vette that stepped up in ability and quality in all areas. Perhaps this doesn’t mean much to others. But to me and many of my friends, we want a genuine reason to buy American…even if our chosen car company is essentially controlled by the very unions which brought its destruction in the first place. So, GM, PLEASE honestly address this. If I purchase the Z06 I have found, and it has this overheating issue…I will bring it back under the Lemon Law and cause the biggest stink imaginable. I will be checking this site and others over the next 10 days while I make my decision and watch for a reply. Thank you.
