Hennessey Performance Engineering continues to bring us footage of the latest performance tests for its products. This time, it’s the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS HPE500 that’s straddled to the dynamometer. The final numbers for the runs were 465.7 wheel horsepower and 457.3 lb-ft of torque.
With 500 ponies at the crank, the Camaro SS HPE500 is in the same range as the LS7-powered fifth-gen Camaro Z/28, in terms of power (505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque for the Z/28). That begs the question of which Camaro we’d go with given the choice – the Camaro SS HPE500 riding on the nimble Alpha platform, or the track-ready Camaro Z/28 loaded with Chevrolet Performance parts.
To make an honest decision, we’d need to take each proposed pony car for a few laps around a track. So we’ll turn the mic to you, which Camaro would you choose? Tell us why in the comment section below.

Alpha platform all the way, even w/o the HPE500 upgrades. Refinement over raw power.
