Does The 2016 Buick Envision Preview A New Holden Captiva?

Although Holden has revealed a mild refresh for the Captiva, it’s long overdue for a new generation. Much like the GMC Acadia, the current Holden Captiva has been around for ten years; that’s quite a long generation.

But, as Car Advice reports, it’s very possible the next Holden Captiva could be based upon a crossover coming off its debut in Detroit: the 2016 Buick Envision. The 2016 Envision holds nearly all of the credentials to replace the Captiva in Australia, except its down two seats. The current Captiva may be had in both five- and seven-seat capability.

If the 2016 Envision doesn’t step up to bat for Holden, it’s likely the next generation, 2017 Chevrolet Equinox will head down under. The next Equinox will shrink in size and ride on the D2XX platform.

Holden and General Motors have not further confirmed where their crossover and SUV plans stand, but the Envision might be a pretty good look at a portion of them.

  1. I doubt it the captiva and the envision don’t really have anything in common besides the fact that they’re both midsize crossovers
