Chevrolet S10 ‘Stretchy Truck’ Has Two Turbos And 1200HP: Video

A Chevrolet S10 dubbed the Stretchy Truck that runs mid-8’s in the quarter mile is impressive. But more impressive is how that feat is achieved. First off, it’s 20 feet long, and powered by a 580 cubic inch big block V8 that’s fitted with two 82 mm turbochargers making it irrefutably awesome.

Unfortunately for the owner, there were a few unexpected issues that botched the times of the Stretchy Truck during Rocky Mountain Race Week 2015. It did manage to run a 9.28 with a trap speed of 154 mph, but on the second day both the track and the truck faced technical difficulties. There was a timing equipment malfunction, and as the S10 crosses the finish line white smoke begins to puff from the engine compartment.

Not exactly a happy ending, but the owner does say that he’ll be returning with an even better iteration of the truck, most likely on a different chassis. Another positive note is that if you pause the video at 1:37 you get to see a snazzy Pontiac G8, too.
