Based on reports, it’s expected that GMC will finally introduce a new Acadia at the 2016 North American International Auto Show after ten years, yes ten. Leading up to the big reveal, GMC decided to release a teaser of the now midsize crossover’s backside.
Currently, the GMC Acadia rides on the aged Lambda platform, which also underpins the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. It’s expected that the 2017 GMC Acadia will shrink in size, placing it out of the full-size crossover realm, and squarely into midsize territory.
The teaser itself is shrouded in darkness, but the pungent LED taillamps, chrome accent and big GMC badge certainly evoke the brand’s design DNA.
Stay tuned for the latest on what’s likely to be the 2017 GMC Acadia as we approach the crossover’s reveal next week.

Looks great. but that Chrome accent needs to go away already. Looks so gawdy on such a nice vehicle.
Disagreed, it breaks it up from the monotonous solid color and when used sparingly gives a touch of class. Too much chrome makes it look gaudy and solid color leans more towards sport but also boring. The little I am seeing, I like.
I’m with Tyler. I like chrome. It just looks classy to me and elegant. But just don’t over do it.
and window wiper looks beautiful ? let’s hope for the best. Color is the smallest thing
It looks a little bit like the back of the terrain
That is does – GMC is likely moving towards a common design theme for its CUVs, which makes sense. As long as it retains some of the “round” form factor of the current Acadia, that’s okay with me.
Could that trim piece actually be ” satin chrome ” ? GM has been using that type of chrome lately on some of it’s newest vehicles . On the ’16 Terrain Denali all of the chrome accents are satin except for the grille . I to like chrome , but the satin treatment adds a bit of class to the vehicle . Maybe it’s just the lighting that makes that trim piece so shiny !?
The Acadia was updated in 2013, was it not? I feel the author did not put a lot of thought into this article.
Industrial Buick inspired tail lights (LaCrosse & Astra). I’d expect to see a few design commonalities with GMC being the more butch/industrial rendering. This is logical considering the number of showrooms they share.
