Buick has been quiet over what it will be bringing to the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It was finally revealed the 2016 Buick Envision would grace the North American market from its home-build country of China but, other than the Envision, mum is the word.
Until now, that is. We recently caught wind of a “surprise” Buick vehicle to be unveiled before the 2016 NAIAS opens its doors to the press. Buick will hold an off-site event once again to debut not only the 2016 Envision, but another all-new vehicle.
After much deliberation, we’re nearly positive the 2017 Buick Enclave will break cover at this event along side the Envision. We say 2017 Enclave over anything else due to a booming crossover market, and one of the most lengthy generations of vehicle we’ve seen in ages from General Motors. Remember, the original Enclave went on sale in 2008 with one mild refresh along the way.
The 2017 Enclave should arrive with the new face of Buick, including a red, white and blue tri-shield emblem. Despite the 2017 Enclave sharing a platform with the 2017 Cadillac XT5, the Buick will measure in at almost a foot larger, too. Expect GM’s fancy-shmancy Electronic Precision Shift to also grace the 2017 Enclave, much like the 2017 Buick LaCrosse.
It is worth a mention, however, that there may be a couple of wildcards. There’s an ever so slim chance we will see a production Buick Avenir, but we won’t hold our breath. There’s also a fairly decent possibility of the Verano and Verano hatch showing face during this time but, again, the crossover game is where it’s at foremost.
We don’t have much longer to speculate, we’ll know the evening of January 10, 2016, if our prediction rings true.

But we haven’t even seen the prototype of the enclave and traverse though?
There have been prototypes spotted of vehicles on the same chassis so it would not be far fetched to think the Enclave is coming.
It is long overdue and can not come soon enough.
Yes but I would think the enclave and Acadia have different suspension damping though so it would have to be on different body styles of prototypes
I won’t disagree with you there but the Enclave still makes the most sense as the ‘surprise’ 2016 NAIAS reveal.
I honestly would love to see the new enclave to come out just so I can decide if I want the 2016 one or wait for the 2017 to come out
Agree that the Enclave is what will break cover. Also the Acadia on the GMC stand.
Buick needs this crossover asap and it is only the white hot crossover/SUV market that has kept the year over year volume steadily increasing despite being so long in the tooth.
not very likely, but could it be another concept, say a sibling to Opel’s concept car announced for Geneva?
I am reading there could be another suv from Buick ( Enspire ) to fill a spot between Envision and Enclave . I thought we would have been interested in the Envision , but being imported from CHINA , we are NOT interested. Hoping this Envision becomes a reality and be assembled in AMERICA it will be in our garage
