Turbo LS-Swapped Pontiac Fiero Turns Heads At The Track: Video

Here we have a refreshing function-over-form build. It’s the unexpected performance of this Pontiac Fiero that appeals to us the most, though there isn’t much else for us to be enthralled by.
“Holy s**t, what is that,” says the 1320 Video camera guy, which is probably the usual response from onlookers as they watch the Fiero tear down the strip within 10 seconds. How, you ask? An LS V8 conversion fitted with a “subtle” 72 mm turbocharger. We know, it’s freakin’ awesome.
The motor of choice is a 5.3 LS4, which was acquired from a junkyard. The Fiero also features a modified suspension, and Nitto 555 tires to get the little rocket to hook. It’s safe to say there isn’t thousands upon thousands invested in this Pontiac, and we’ll take that as a reminder that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to go fast – if you have the means (knowledge, tools, resources, etc.).
So enjoy the video, and see why folks had to take a second look at this turbo-LS Fiero during the Mega Cash Days racing event in New Mexico.
“You got it, Pontiac.”
Neat!
There is a guy on YouTube with a 3800 V6 that runs 9’s at Summit Raceway Park. It looks like just a 4 banger coupe beater and it just flat hooks up and runs.
I have a few friends with engine swaps from BBC, SBC to various V6 and Turbo 4 conversions. The Fiero is a prime swap car.
Keep in mind even with a LS it is only around 2800 pounds.
Back in the day there was a guy running a Chevette with a BBC in it at OCIR, it was pretty fast! (what a shame it closed, I still live about two miles from where it was).
