Shuffle the awards shelf, General Motors, because GMC has just earned another one.
After extensive testing, and a crowded field of capable competitors, Truck Trend has named the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali its Truck of the Year.
Truck Trend cites overall impeccable performance, convenience and capability at every corner of the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali as major points of interest for the accolade.
The judges were impressed with the technology found inside, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, handsome styling outside and the 6.2-liter small-block V8 to provide respectable fuel economy and great power whenever asked of it.
Off-road, the 2016 Sierra Denali impressed, too, where judges found the retractable side steps to be very useful in design. During towing, the 2015 Sierra 1500 Denali never seemed over-cumbered, with the final scorecard saying:
While towing, driving long highway miles, hauling payloads and passengers, and rolling over rough city streets, the Denali impressed us with its stability, capability, and driving ease. It dispatched our trailer test well, allowing drivers to accelerate and brake effortlessly to keep up with the flow of traffic, and it handled its burdens with aplomb, unlike some of its competitors that strained against their payloads or trailer weights.
Final impressions? Consistency was key in taking home the win for the GMC.

Ditto. Fourth (at best) would have been my bet. 6.2 best Baby Max. Nice. Didn’t see that being a possibility.
Nice! Now lets take the 6.2 with the 8 speed auto and put it in a regular cab truck with a 6.5′ bed. Do a lowered suspension with big anti roll bars and you’d have a real sport truck.
