Spy Shots: 2017 GMC Acadia Caught Perusing The M14 In Michigan

If you previously noted our report on the 2017 GMC Terrain and 2017 Chevrolet Equinox spy shots, we’ve since updated it to reflect our latest news.

After deliberation, we’re nearly certain what we see here is the 2017 GMC Acadia. We say nearly because it does match what we’ve seen previously from 2017 Acadia mules roaming about. The one thing still stumping us, however, is the lack of dual exhaust in these photos. From the very first sightings to now, the 2017 Acadia has been spotted with a dual exhaust configuration.

But, this could point to a lower trim level and engine combination marching its way down the M14 outside of Lansing, Michigan. Everything else looks nearly identical to what we’ve seen before from the Acadia, including the taillamp treatment, rear window and body moldings.

The 2017 GMC Acadia will shrink in size a tad, along with the 2017 Cadillac XT5, though, will seem just as large with the addition of GMC’s bulkier and SUV-like styling.

  1. Or could the Terrain be taking the same platform as the XT5 leaving the short wheel base slot to the Envision at the Buick, GMC dealers.

If they both are the same size it would create a lot of overlap in a similar priced segment.

I have also heard in the past the Terrain was going to Springhill with the XT5 in early reports or production.

  2. I’m pretty sure this will be the swb Acadia serve as the edge murano competitor. Then the Acadia XL will dbe the fullsize crossover against the pilot highlander etc. I’m also pretty sure the Terrain will be compact like the Equinox

  3. Based on the shape of the rear seat window and stance it looks more like the Colorado based SUV to me. Most likely to be branded Blazer here in North America.

    1. It for sure is not that. The Colorado 7 / Blazer built on the Colorado platform would have a live rear axle, this has an IRS.

  4. It looks like Acadia to me.

  5. Single exhaust may mean hybrid.

  6. I recently read an article that said the new Terrain will be compact in size and not straddle the compact mid-size segment that it does currently . Like the new Nox . The Acadia also has been reported to be smaller than the current vehicle which is why I believe there will be two Acadias , one mid-size ( replacing the Terrains segment ) and an XL version closer in length too the current model . The picture is probably the smaller Acadia with the 4 cylinder because of the single tail pipe . It seems to fill in the portfolio , a compact Terrain , a mid-size Acadia, an XL Acadia and then the Yukon . But only GMC knows whats up . JM $0.02 .

    1. yea kind of like what Hyundai did with the santa fe and santa fe sport. because this looks awfully small from what ive seen in other spy shots that looked bigger but a touch smaller than the current truck. this looks like something that will compete with that fugly jeep Cherokee.
