According to Opel and the German Hunting Association, a wild deer, stag or boar collides with a German motorist every 2.5 minutes. But, with Opel IntelliLux LED Matrix lighting as seen on the 2016 Astra, a clear advantage emerges.
IntelliLux Matrix headlights keep a permanent high beam going, while not glaring or blinding oncoming traffic or vehicles in front of the car. The infographic below helps paint a clearer picture.
16 LED segments, eight in each headlight, constantly adapt to road conditions, changing the lighting cone shape and intensity automatically with help from the onboard Opel Eye camera. At cruising speeds, this gives drivers an extra 1.5-seconds to react should something step out in front of the vehicle, creating the safest lighting solution Opel has ever developed.
Thus, it helps keep our wildlife friends safe, and passengers even more so. It’s an incredible technology that we hope the U.S. will mosey around to approving for American drivers sooner rather than later.
