General Motors filed an application to register “Maven” as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The automaker’s November 25th, 2015 application is assigned serial number 86764060 and specifies that the mark will be used in the following four goods and services categories:
- Application software for connecting vehicle drivers and passengers and for coordinating transportation services; software for use in planning, monitoring and controlling urban transportation
- Land motor vehicles, rail vehicles
- Business services relating to transportation of goods and services; administration of a customer loyalty program
- Rental of land motor vehicles, bicycles and motorized bicycles, scooters and cycles; land vehicle sharing services, transportation services for passengers and freight
The GM Authority Take
This one isn’t as cut-and-dry as some other recent General Motors trademark apps. No matter, the goods and services categories tell us plenty, and we’d venture to guess that Maven will become a GM a service, possibly delivered via a mobile application, that’s related to car sharing and car rentals.
