Cadillac has discontinued the CTS Midnight Edition for the 2016 model year, GM Authority has discovered.
Initially offered for the interim model year 2015 CTS, the $1,095 package equipped the midsize sport-luxury sedan with various black exterior accents, including:
- Black window moldings
- Black chrome grille
- 18-inch dark premium painted aluminum wheels
The package also included a sueded microfiber steering wheel and sueded microfiber shifter. It was only available with the Performance and Premium trim levels and with four exterior colors, including:
- Cocoa Bronze Metallic
- Crystal White Tricoat
- Phantom Gray Metallic
- Black Raven
News of the discontinuation of the CTS Midnight Edition comes after GM Authority discovered that Cadillac also dropped the ATS Midnight Edition for the 2016 model year. The move is rather unfortunate given that Cadillac’s primary competitors, namely BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Lexus, all offer a way to equip their midsize sedan offerings with black-out accents, which has become a growing design trend in the sport-luxury market.

Comments
Maybe they are discontinuing it temporarily only to bring it back under a different name.
Since Cadillac is focussed on differentiation from the other GM divisions calling it the same name as Chevrolet always struck me as odd.
Maybe they should do a name with their French origins in mind and call it the CTS Noir.
Absolute stupidity! They need to wake up as half of there current owners next ride is a wheelchair…
Cadillac is working hard and spending a lot of money to attract younger buyers and it is starting inch down but a lot of work to be done.
That is why it surprises me that they nixed the ‘Midnight Edition’ trim package as I am certain that buyers of that type of package tend to be on the low end of the luxury buyer spectrum.

Downtown Mercedes has a c series and cla in that trim right in the front of the showroom. They also have sold almost 8000 C to ATS 3000.
It is a big miss on Cadillac’s part to discontinue this option.
Why?
Because some people HATE chrome !
